Palestinian marriage customs are an authentic folklore

In marriage, the first step begins with choosing the bride. This is typically the groom's mother's task as there is no matchmaker system in Palestine. If a young palestinian man does not find a match within their circle, his mother gathers with her friends and relatives to draw up a list of potential matches.
After the young man picks a match, the mother would go to her house and ask her mother for her hand in marriage to her son. The groom's parents give the girl and her parents a period of time to learn about the groom and his family, their morals and integrity. When the agreed period of time is over, the mother would return to find out about their decision. If the response is positive, a date for the new couple is set to allow them to meet and meet to know each other. On the said date, The bride's family, including her uncles and brothers, hosts the groom's family. The bride is then supposed to enter the room with coffee in her hands, greet the guests, and sit to see and meet the groom and allow him to see her.
At this meeting the families discuss matters such as the dowry, the costs and many other details. Desserts such as Baklava and Kunefa are served along with soft drinks and coffee.
This is the first step of officializing the relationship and announcing the marriage.
On another date, an authorized person would come to the bride's house, or the couple go to the Sharia court, in order to make a marriage contract in front of a Sharia judge. This latter would ask the bride if she desires to marry the man or not. After this step, comes a stage called Samada, which is an engagement ceremony in which the couple's relatives are invited. In this ceremony, the betrothal is announced and celebrated. Then at a later stage, the wedding date is determined by the parties. The party venue is then booked, invitations are printed and distributed to the invitees.
The wedding celebrations are preceded by a Henna party in which the bride's parents and friends gather to celebrate while the bride is getting Henna applied on her hands and her guests. The groom's family usually hosts a wedding feast the day before the wedding. Typically, a dish of Lamb and rice is prepared by the women in the family.
The day after, in the groom's house, the relatives begin to prepare banquets and prepare lunch, and invite people to attend the wedding celebration at the venue.
On the schedule for the newlyweds to move in together, families are set to gather at the bride's house. They begin to decorate theirs and the new couple's car with flowers and garlands, and play folk music. The cars then drive together towards the bride's house. The bride would finally go out with her groom accompanied by her brothers, father and uncles and get in the car to go to her new home.
